Projekt brugt bog/Altered book

The book, that I bought in a thrift store, was stripped of everything inside, and then I made pages that I glued to a spine made out of heavyduty cardstock. I used the tape for drywall for this and glued it together with Ranger Multi Medium Matte, to ensure that it got stuck properly. The sides – which I glued to the inside of the bookcover – was embellished and as the birthday girl is soon going to NY City, USA with her school (this is where I remember my own trip to Berlin – before they tore down the wall) I found one of my photos from a trip to NY City of The Sphere, as it stands in Battery Park today. I printed the photo on tissue paper.

Before I glued the inside piece to the bookcover I worked on embellishing the cover. I cut some leaf vines in grey cardstock and some flowers in white cardstock, on my Silhouette, which I colored. I also cut leaves with the Sizzix die in some vellum and gold cardstock. The first layer on the bookcover was clear gesso followed by some paste that I colored with Distress re-inker in tattered rose. After this the background got some Perfect pearl mixed with water and then I started planning the layout before gluing everything down. The final touch was a black tag and a bow (that changed in color at the end) and finally rhinstones, halfpearls and microbeads.

The leaflets for inside the book that can be removed and replaced by new ones was made with lined copypaper, drawingpaper and watercolor cardstock. I made some extra leaflets, both to show the possibilities and to ensure that the recipient didn’t run out of materials too soon after getting started.
